One of my favorite books! Riveting from start to finish. I've read it twice.

A classic. This is not a "speed read", but rather an insightful rendition of the phenomenon of survival. I rarely write comments.

I loved it. The author goes into some detail about the mindset used by some who survive some remarkably difficult dilemmas, and I think the same mindset can be used to survive some less harrowing everyday challenges. Fascinating and useful.

I'm not a big fan of survival epics but loved this book. It's interesting to hear what works and how people have survived various outdoor events. Not only enjoyable and interesting, but also includes lessons learned. Good instruction for anyone who goes outdoors and very readable.

If you're a fan of survival epics, (Endurance, Annapurna, Into Thin Air, etc) you'll find this book to be REALLY interesting. I did. There are a few places where it gets a bit slow, but it's generally well-paced. And most importantly, the insights into the central question (who lives, who dies, and why) are fascinating and even instructive. Recommended for all fans of outdoor literature, and/or anyone who participates in outdoor activities. Enjoyable too.
