I recommend this DVD for adults. This historical drama was well done for the explosion at Halifax Dec 6, 1917 which killed 2,000 people. Fictional stories are used around the factual characters. The story is strong. It is well acted. The makeup looks real. There is lots of scenes with blood and injuries and death. Caution should be used for young viewers. CBC did a great job!

This is a highly dramatized version of events that happened on that day, but they do get some of the facts correct, while at the same time missing some key points. Don't assume this is any where near the factual events of that day, but it makes for a good movie if you enjoy the disaster genre.

I suggest reading the reports and investigations that came out after the disaster to get a complete picture if you're interested in the truth, but I also highly recommend this movie. Although it's a dramatization, it gives you the feel of an era and the thinking of the people in a time period that is 100 years in the past.
