Ex-Navy SEAL Jack Kirkland surfaces from an aborted underwater salvage mission to find the Earth burning.

Solar flares have triggered a series of gargantuan natural disasters. Earthquakes and hellfire rock the globe. Air Force One has vanished from the skies with America's president on board. Now, with the U.S. on the narrow brink of a nuclear apocalypse, Kirkland must pilot his oceangoing exploration ship, Deep Fathom, on a desperate mission miles below the ocean's surface. There devastating secrets await him--and a power an ancient civilization could not contain has been cast out into modern day. And it will forever alter a world that's already racing toward its own destruction.

I like his books because although they follow the same formula, they are non-stop action and full of interesting details. It's not the kind of book I'll ever read again but it's excellent for a weekend off

This is the first book I've read from James Rollins books and I must say I've became a fan rightaway. I love how he combined action/thriller, suspense, scifi and a bit of political conspiracy in the story. I enjoyed the creativity and imagination so much. I am now in the process of borrowing his first book - Sandstorm, and will read through his entire collection of books.

Another awesome display of Rollins’ intricate plots and exceptional storytelling, the story captivates you right from the get go. If you like story about lost civilization, sprinkle with a bit of apocalypse, science fiction, black ops and action hero, this would be a perfect book for you. What a great read!

What an fabulous Rollins' book! If you like classic mysteries: Bermuda Triangle, ancient lost cities, pyramid builders... this is what you get and a whole lot more! Ending was good, but pretty short and quick.
