What a great adventures series. I always enjoy these titles and love the adventures Alfred gets into on the high seas. Travelling around the world in his small submarine gives Al the chance to meet people and enjoy different cultures. A wonderful series that doesn't cushion real life, but doesn't make it too ugly to read about either. Check out Phillip Roy's website--he actually has built a submarine that he brings with him on author visits!

This book was so beautifully written! I loved how Alfred took Radji (an Untouchable Indian boy) under his wing. And I also learned so much about Indian culture, too!
