Some of these modern British novels throw the characters at you with little to no description, and you finally get a feel for the story 100+ pages in. This is one of those. This could have been a very effective 100 page or less short story.

A bit disjointed. It tends to tax the reader
to sort out names and relstionships. Not
one of her best.

To enjoy this sequel one must have read the previous novels and still one must keep notes and draw a families & friends tree in order not be lost or confused.
The acute and intimate analysis of each character compensates for the lack of a real plot : no dilemna, no suspense but lots of cups of tea!!! a slow read ...
