Disappointing, overwritten, unsympathetic characters, misogynist.

A book about memory and the meaning of family and friendship, it oddly keeps the reader at a distance.

I liked this well enough. It became more meaningful as you get closer to the end. But Giller worthy? I didn't find anything about the story or the writing that was noteable.

a stunning surprise- I especially liked the idea that we often give second and third chances to the wrong people, while withholding forgiveness from others more deserving (and ourselves)
