This memoir is refreshingly honest, open, enlightening, hilarious, life-affirming, and heartwarming without being overly sentimental. I read it from cover to cover in one sitting. Highly recommended.

I loved this. And it's Canadian!
It contrasts the differences between being in the Canadian medical system and having the same diagnosis as a veterinary patient (with an owner who has money or insurance). It's surprising how much better, or at least quicker, the care can be for the dog with a well-heeled owner.

Interesting autobiography on experiences of a Canadian veterinarian - her experiences working as a vet (specializing in surgical oncology) compared and contrasted to her experiences navigating the Canadian health care system from the time she suspected she had thyroid cancer, thru to the time she left Canada to work in Florida. At last - a book that tells the truth about Cdn health care from the patient's perspective; I wish that my American friends could read this so that they understand that it's not all roses north of the 49th.

Dr. Sarah came across as having a huge ego. Believe me I cld relate to her fears and frustrations dealing with cancer but I felt as if she was constantly being a bit over dramatic. This is strictly my opinion and wld suggest you read it for yourself and see what you think.
