Too much details given on Irving Newspapers. Informs us they were bullies, either give us(the Irvings ) tax breaks, power rate breaks, all the lumber we want, etc. or we will pull out of the prov.. Also made sure if their demands were not met the government of the day lost the next election.
Ostensibly an account of the break up of the Irving family, and therefore the separation of its companies. But it is just as much focused on the Irving newspaper business and (in an even handed way) assessing the extent to which the papers' editorial and content are shaped by the family. Well written and informative.
