A very interesting and alarming story, although the pace seems slower than in the earlier Margaret Truman's novels. A new hero, Robert Brixton, predictably a good friend of Mackensie and Annabel Smith. Three points in the book make some good food for reflection.

1. On p. 133, "850,000 people working on homeland security have top-secret clearances -- more than the whole population of Washington, D.C."

2. In numerous scenes of questioning by various security agencies, no mention is made of whether the individuals, who mostly are not under arrest, have to answer or even talk to the government agents, while not being in court under oath?

3. The hero cannot fly on a commercial airliner with two persons he saves from a murderous gun-running cult leader in Hawaii, because neither has any ID. There is NO LAW that requires a US citizen to carry an ID, and I usually raise this question at the airports with the Federal TSA agents at check-in. None of the answers received so far are satisfactory.
