In the first novel of this YA futuristic/dystopian series by Lisa T. Bergren, gifted teens known as Remnants have been chosen and trained to act as humanity's last hope to rectify the horrors that are part of everyday life in 2095.

The Community trained these teens as warriors and assigned them Knights of the Last Order as protectors; together they are a force that will be difficult to bring down.

The Sons of Sheol are determined to do just that.

This book is amazing! It focuses on Andriana, a remnant, and her knight protector, Ronan. It is set roughly a couple hundred years in the future, but since wars and bombs have destroyed so much, it is very much like the medieval times. A small group of remnants have been chosen since birth to save the world from darkness, and trained their whole lives, with their knights, but without meeting each other. Now their missions begin, the first of which is to find each other. This book follows them on their journey as they locate a portion of the other remnants. I was intrigued by the first page, though confused. Keep reading, the confusion will clear up! I am very anxious to get the second book so I can continue to follow their journey. There are many battles fought, both natural and spiritual, in this book. They are all learning to trust and follow the Maker (God). Overall, I think this author is amazing to be able to think up a complex story like this.

I would not suggest this book. It is simplistic and not very well written. The characters are very flat, with little development. The plot is weak, and the overall construction of the story is ridiculous. Besides, love triangles are 100% overused in YA books, and this book is an example of just how overused it is.
Do not waste your time on this one.
