As an elite operative of a government-sponsored organization called Opti, Peri Reed is a valuable commodity. Her ability to jump back in time is extremely rare, and her handlers use her for all manner of operations, many of which fall into a gray area from a legal and moral standpoint. She must rely on her anchor to resolve the dual time lines she creates every time she drafts, and the relationship is by necessity an intimate one. When Peri realizes that her anchor is manipulating her and Opti is riddled with corruption, she tries to break free. But when anyone with anchor training can simply rewrite her memories, how will she ever get to the truth?

I found the story line a little choppy and invariably frustrating as I tried to figure out who were the good guys and who weren't. I enjoyed reading it, but am not sure I like the concept as of yet. If it wasn't Kim Harrison, I'd have likely given this a lower rating.

If you want to pick this book up because you are like me, a lover of The Hollows series, this will be quite different from what you are used to. It's not a bad book, it's just... very different. If you can make it past the first 11/12 chapters of things that don't make sense and characters that aren't particularly endearing, it starts to make sense and becomes interesting. However, I don't think it will ever be addicting like the Hollows series was. The idea is reminiscent of J.D Robb/Nora Roberts' "In Death" series with Eve and Roarke, with mystery and suspense and set in the future. Completely different style. I'd give it a chance if you are open to something different or like me, have nothing else to read at the moment.
