The first book in a planned series, The Seven Sisters is an engaging, easy to read story of family secrets, self-discovery and romance in a beautiful setting. This book focuses on the eldest sister's search for the truth about her past. Each of the sisters is well-drawn with a distinct voice so I look forward to following their stories in future books.
Once again, Lucinda Riley weaved a beautiful tale that brought Rio de Janeiro and it's history alive for me. It is a very factual novel intertwined with history, art and the unravelling of a love story that becomes relevant in present day. The only drawback was it was slow at the beginning but once Maia's story emerged, I couldn't put it down.
Intriguing! Book 1 in the Seven Sisters Series has a very unusual story-line...fanciful, rather mysterious, historically accurate, yet relevant to today.
I enjoyed the book and am looking forward to Book 2!
This is one of those books that dive deep into a families history to uncover secrets and reveal truths. The writing was rather ordinary and it was a bit predictable, but despite that I really enjoyed the story. It was a relaxing read and I would recommend it if you like family saga type stories.
