If they had tried harder with this movie they could have made something really special. The plot is sort of weak and the main character's personality was not adequately explored. The atmosphere of the movie leaves one with a lovely sense of peace and the singing children are angelic. Maybe it could be a good movie to watch at Christmas? It's OK, but not that great.

I expected more from Dustin Hoffman. Poor movie, I was ready to eject the DVD but stuck it out to the end (I did fast forward a bit). Pointless boys private school bullying, child with a talent but a bad attitude, parent that doesn't care and can afford to pay his way out of responsibility. The boy has his moment of glory and parent suddenly cares. Give me a break!!! I would not recommend this movie.

I agree. Pleasant and nothing else. Need to watch French version now.

If you are interested in the subject, watch French movie Les choristes (The Chorus), it has English subtitles. While the French movie is superb (great acting, great singing, great believable story), this movie The Boychoir is a total garbage in comparison.

I liked this movie for what it was. I don't believe that Stet stayed in his private boarding school over the Christmas holidays and no one noticed but hey, suspend your disbelief. I also didn't know that boy choirs were a thing. The music is great, the plot is predictable but it was a nice way to spend aprox. two hours.

I am teasing my kids that it is like Harry Potter - except boys are not excelig in spells but in singing, which is also kind of magic
You watch the movie with curiosity, but to be honest - the plot is shallow and very black&white - you could easily predict the end and the moral of that fairy tale

What an incredible movie: the singing, the scenery & the positive messages make this a must-see...loved it!

I thought that this movie was absolutely wonderful!! I highly recommend this film. The closing credits with Josh Groban singing was even more special. Bravo!!

Don't do this one, it is a crime when the producer has money for Dustin Hoffman and Kathy Bates, but can't spend the money to write a good script.

Shallow. Unconvincing. Lacks real music passion that drives the core of the movie. Would not recommend this movie.
