This is the best one of the series so far. It tied up so many loose ends from book three and finally brought some of the characters together. The encounter between Aelin and Manon was my favorite part, where these two badass women finally come together and meet. Especially after we have been following their story for so long.

The character development was great and the anticipation leading up to the final battle and even the trials before that were awesome. That said, I still think this book was too long. There were many moments I felt could have been cut. I understand it is Maas's style to give detail and have slow development but there were some moments where I was struggling with the plot, begging it to move along. Also the slow burn between Rowan and Aelin was torture, but a good torture.

Overall, this was my favorite book in the Throne of Glass series. I am excited to see how the characters and the plot continue to develop and expand. I'm anxious to see how all these threads tie up together.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters and story line are awesome. I can't wait to see what Aelin and Manon do next.

I thought the Heir of Fire could not be outdone but I was wrong this book is one of the best ones I've read in a long time.

An amazing book! It blew my mind with so many plot twists and turns! ***spoilers*** I am really glad Rowan gave in on the end, but well, Aelin is right; she is in a lot of trouble. I kept on laughing out loud when Lysandra and Aelin tease each other or when she turns into a ghost leopard! And I can't believe what the king said at the end. I am still not sure whether he was lying or not. I love the way the author developed the settings and the world. I also like the how Aelin knows what she is doing, and surprises everyone, even the reader, when ever she puts her plans into action. The only thing I did not like in this book is the way Chaol acts in the beginning. But, then again, I guess every book needs an annoying character. Even if he is extremely stupid and annoying and a fool. To say the least.

I am in love with everyone in this book. <spoiler> I didn't think it would ever be possible, but I can even appreciate the king now that I've read his story and all he tried to do to save Dorian from the demons that already enslaved him </spoiler>
Aelin is back to square one- in Rifthold, posing as Celaena. She's looking for answers, for revenge, and for anything that might help her get back her throne. She knows Arobynn has her Amulet of Orynth, inside of which lies one of the Wyrdkeys, but she discovers upon her arrival that her cousin Aedion is scheduled for beheading because he betrayed Adarlan to try and help her cause. Also, it soon becomes apparent that her friend, the man she promised she would come back for, has been enslaved by the king, with a prince trapping him behind that black stone collar. She's going to need all the help she can get, even if it means dealing with an insufferable ex-Captain of the Guard and employing all of her wits to win Arobynn's game.
Manon is dealing with all the consequences of becoming Wing Leader. Which basically means waiting around like guard dogs until her master tells her to bite something. She and her Thirteen hate it, but it's what they got to do. Right? She follows orders, trying to please her grandmother's wishes and do her duty, but it quickly becomes apparent that sinister games are at play, and Manon might have to do what she can to quietly defy her 'allies'.
Elide is a slave, trapped by her Uncle Vernon in Morath, surrounded by witches, and just trying to find a way to escape. She doesn't care about the title she had in Terrasen, all she wants is to go far far away. She wonders if anyone remembers her, if anyone remembers her father or her mother, Marion. Who, it turns out, had some witch blood in her as Manon finds out before laying claim to Elide (even though Elide's blood runs red). The only hope that keeps Elide looking back towards Terrasen is the wish that Aelin made it out alive and is out there in the world somewhere, plotting to take back her throne...
Chaol is on a mission of his own, trying to kill as many Valg as he can and save as many people from the chopping block as possible. Working with a rebel group, he's unprepared to say the least for Aelin's return.
Dorian is trapped inside his body, unable to fight much longer against the demon prince that is taking control of his body, and soon his soul.

This series is amazing, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Sarah J. Maas is an incredible writer, and she delivers absolute gold to her readers.

When will this series end? Not any time soon, from the looks of it. I do NOT recommend this series.

I enjoy this series even more as it progresses. In this book, Aelin gets more and more ambitious and her power grows. My favorite part of this book is how the separate stories start to converge, with different characters beginning to interact with each other. There are times the world Sarah J. Maas has created almost seems too big, and it's hard to keep track of some of the characters and places. For example, I couldn't remember if Lysandra had been mentioned in the other books, or if she just suddenly became important in this one. My other minor complaint is that in these first four books we never find out the King of Ardalan's name!

Another great book in this series - as good as and maybe even better than the last one. Am so glad I discovered this author after she had published most of this series as it's would be so hard to wait until she had written each volume.
