Very nice book with a lot of subtle things in the artwork (the boy lives in an orphanage). It makes for great discussion of what is going on that is unsaid, and ends leaving reader and listener with a very positive and hopeful feeling. It can be read and reread by children growing up and they will glean more and more from the book as they get older and understand the world better. Great book to add to one's own library.

Beautiful and inspiring for me and my little ones. It makes me want to leave secret works of art in my community with my kids. Well done Fan Brothers!

Gorgeous pictures!

The magical appearance of topiary trees each morning transforms a small community. Lovely and uplifting.

A heartwarming story about simple acts of kindness and the power of art. Gorgeous sepia-toned pen and ink illustrations are touched with more and more color as the town changes from dreary to dazzling. Perfect for preschool or K-2nd grade storytimes.
