Great dystopian steampunk interpretation of Peter Pan with a strongly supported and logical alternative mythology. Normally I stay away from all things Peter Pan because, well, I dislike the original story so much. However, this book has great strong and positive male and female protagonists, lots of exciting action scenes, and great alternate explanations as to the original story's touchstones: why there is an island of boys, Hook, a different take on a flying (Tinker)Bella, etc. I LOVED this book.

Peter Pan as futuristic steampunk viral outbreak?! Yes, please! I loved the dual narrative of this story, and while Hook is kind of whiny, I think it really is true to his character from the original story. Peter is also fairly true to his original character--he is pretty sexist, and Spinale addresses this in the story. Fortunately, Wendy gets fed up with it (as does Bella!), and turns on the girl power! If you want a brand new twist on this classic tale with a teense of mechanical prowess, this is the way to go.

A new alternative history that gives a new, realistic twist on the Peter Pan story.
