For Kit, the quiet Devon village she visits every year is the perfect retreat. But this summer, she arrives with a heart in turmoil: years have passed since Kit last saw Jake, but now he has written asking to meet again. For Mungo, the village is simply home and the ideal getaway for friends, like Kit, even if he aches at the old memories they bring and the secrets they stir in him. As the summer unfolds, hidden truths are uncovered that will shatter the sleepy community. But those involved soon realize that the only way to move forward might be to confront the past . . .

An absolutely wonderful read. I couldn't put it down! I've loved all of Marcia Willett's books and this one was no exception.

A setting in beautiful, rural Devon peopled with a cast of gently drawn characters, many in the autumn of their lives, shapes this book of short, related stories. Secrets, loves, relationships, plots and subplots are explored in evocative narration, making this the perfect read as summer draws to a close.

So so.
Book really begins at about page 108 and could have used editing.
I enjoyed the parallel between the writer who is trying to create a dramatic story in what he deems to be a sleepy, boring village, whereas in fact, the murder and mayhem drama he wants so badly to invent are happening right under his nose.
