John Rebus, the complex hero of many of Rankin's novel juggles three ongoing plots: catching a pedophile, tracking a recently released killer with a clear and very determined mission on his mind and helping an old flame find her missing son.
It is fast paced and suspenseful plot but a bit difficult to get into initially as the story lines are slowly weaved together. This was not my favorite Rebus novel but overall it is another good Rankin read with a reasonably satisfying ending,
