A cute movie about a rock group and a teen critic in the 70-s.

This is a great movie for people who love music. Set in 1973, the story is semi-autobiographical and based on writer/director Cameron Crowe's experiences as Rolling Stone magazine's youngest-ever contributor. The role eventually played by Billy Crudup was written for Brad Pitt. Pitt dropped out of the project because "I just don't get it enough to do it." Unless you love music, you may not get this movie either. The music in the film is excellent. Almost Famous is rated R for language, drug content and brief nudity.

Film's portrayal of the legendary rock critic, Lester Bangs, is so spot on -- thanks to Philip Seymour Hoffman's ever so impeccable performance.

Who didn't wanna go out and work for Rolling Stone after watching this movie? Really nice story with really well thought out characters and good acting

Excellent movie. So glad that I finally viewed it. Love the musical era. Did you notice at the beginning of the show that Phillip Seymour Hoffman's character was wearing a Guess Who t-shirt and later in the movie you can hear the band's Albert Flasher entitled song?

Love this film, I watch it at least twice a year.. This captures the late 60s early 70s so well I feel that I was there.

This is one of my favourite films. It involves 2 things I'm interested in -writing and road trips- and it has my favourite actor -Noah Taylor- and favourite Canadian actor -Jay Baruchel, in a small part but still with lines- and it just was a really well done movie.

One of the best movies ever made. Cameron Crowe's best movie. Perfectly captures the era of rock music and what it would have felt like to hang around with an up and coming band around that time.

"All right. But I'm just going to say this, and I'm going to stand by it. You should be really proud of him. 'Cause I know men, and I'll bet you do, too. And he respects women, and he likes women, and let's just pause and appreciate a man like that. You created him out of thin air, and you raised him right, and we're all looking out for him. He's doing a great job, and don't worry: he's still a virgin. And that's more than I've ever said to my own parents. So there you go... This is the maid speaking, by the way."

"We are not groupies. Groupies sleep with rock stars because they want to be near someone famous. We are here because of the music, we inspire the music. We are Band Aids."

"Show me any guy who ever said he didn't want to be popular, and I'll show you a scared guy. I've studied the entire history of music. Most of the time, the best stuff is the popular stuff. It's much safer to say popularity sucks, because that allows you to forgive yourself if you suck. And I don't forgive myself. Do you?"

"The war is over. They won. And 99% of what passes for rock 'n' roll these days, silence is more compelling. That's why I think you should just turn around and go back, you know, and be a lawyer or somethin'. But I can tell from your face that you won't. I can give you 35 bucks. Give me a thousand words on Black Sabbath... Hey, you have to make your reputation on being honest and, uh, you know, unmerciful... If you get into a jam, you can call me. I stay up late."

"God, it's gonna get ugly, man. They're gonna buy you drinks. You're gonna meet girls, they're gonna try to fly you places for free, offer you drugs. I know. It sounds great, but these people are not your friends. You know, these are people who want you to write sanctimonious stories about the genius of rock stars. And they will ruin rock 'n' roll, and strangle everything we love about it, right? You know, because they're trying to buy respectability for a form that is gloriously and righteously dumb. Now, you're smart enough to know that. And the day it ceases to be dumb is the day that it ceases to be real, right? And then it just becomes an industry of cool."
