One by one, three young girls vanish from a small town in upstate New York. With the first disappearance, the townspeople begin to mistrust outsiders. When the second girl goes missing, neighbors and childhood friends start to eye each other warily. And with the third disappearance, the sleepy little town wakens to a full-blown nightmare. No one is immune to the ruinous effects of suspicion. "If ever there was a tale for a moonless night, a high wind, and a creaking floor, this is it" - Stephen King. A Book-of-the-Month-Club Alternate Selection. Highly Acclaimed Author.

Dark and disturbing read. I think the hysteria and suspicion that resulted from the girls' disappearances was realistic. The prologue and the conclusion were chilling. Won't be a book I'll forget.

This kept me hooked from beginning to end. It was gripping and I thought the character development was outstanding. A great read.
