With a harsh childhood behind him, Riley finished school with a little knowledge and lots of optimism, thanks to his beloved teacher, Fred Beardsley. Riley surprised the Beardsleys when he landed the job of stage manager of the Little Palace Theatre -- and even more, when he formed a close friendship with the leading lady, Nyrene Forbes-Mason. Riley told everyone that Nyrene was simply helping him learn his craft, when in truth he had high hopes for a more-than-platonic relationship with the stage star.
