Percy Jackson the Sea of Monsters movie: I honestly hated this movie. The book was amazing. If you are planning on reading the books, even as a small possibility, please read it first; the book will be more enjoyable if you didn't watch it. But if you aren't planning on reading it, still don't watch the movie! It was terrible!! And here's why I think that: Well first of all, the Sea of Monsters is the second movie in the Percy Jackson movie series, and is based on the books by Rick Riordan. It's about a demigod named Percy Jackson who lives in a world where Greek mythology is real the writers did not incorporate all the best scenes from the second book in the movie; they only took bits from the second book. On top of that, they tried to incorporate bits and pieces from the third, fourth, and fifth books. So all the big changes and battles that lasted a couple books to ease in to were equivalent to a mere five minutes each in the movie. It was all rather rushed, and created lots of spoilers for books 3, 4, and 5. To emphasize the 'rushed' aspect, I will let you know that the five books that make up Percy Jackson and the Olympians all lead up to and ease in to a final battle all throughout the fifth book. But in the Sea of Monsters movie, this epic final battle was a minute long and seemed pretty sad and easy to win compared to the long, extensive battle in the books. The script was also extremely cheesy. After every battle, the lines the characters had sounded like they were quotes you'd find in someone's Instagram bio, not lines someone would naturally say in real life. The romance was pretty rushed and quick, so it wasn't as heartfelt and didn't attach the viewers to the story. Overall, it was a pretty bad movie. Not even that it didn't portray the book properly, it just wasn't as enjoyable as it could've been. Personally, I wouldn't recommend this. Maybe a younger child about 9 years old or younger might enjoy it, but I don't think anyone else would in my opinion.
