Radiant Angel --- by. --- Nelson DeMille. DeMille tells tall tales. Improbably tall tales. But he tells them well. And therein hangs the tale. John Corey, National Security Agent is supposed to be no-brain work following Soviet, scratch that Putin's Russian agents accredited to the U.N. This is work that any beat cop full of donuts could do, right? Except, one day, Corey and his sidekick lose track of the thug their supposed to follow and come across an evil plan the vaporize New York City with a portable 12 kiloton nuclear bomb. Improbable, yes. But still a good tale. Especially if you enjoy DeMille's penchant for giving our hero a rather sarcastic, at times dark sense of humour. DeMilleis no stranger to outrageous plots; no stranger to story lines that resolve themselves seconds before disaster;no stranger to a hero who really has no use for by-the-rules authority. Isn't Corey a bit like many of us would like to be at least a little like? To date DeMille has written seven John Corey novel. This is the most recent of them so I guess I'll be reading the series in reverse order. My recommendation? Read 'em; devour 'em; enjoy 'em. I'd give this novel six stars if I could.
