I put off reading this book for ten years after I saw the movie. I was worried I would find it too emotional and oppressive. I was surprised that it wasn't, really. After all, Schindler's List is told by the ones who survived. It is a tale of survival agains insurmountable odds, and of people's ingenuity in times of great stress, and of people who survived because others helped. I just kept flipping to the page where it credited "sources" and if I found that last name listed, it meant that someone in that family had gotten out. And then I could keep reading.
